  22. 1. WORD TRANSLATOR FOR WINDOWS SHAREWARE VERSION

  24. This shareware version of Word Translator for Windows may be freely 
  25. copied and distributed to whomever you choose. However, please 
  26. understand that the software is owned by and is the intellectual 
  27. property of Translation Experts Limited. Word Translator for Windows 
  28. is copyright ⌐1990-1995 Translation Experts Limited. All rights 
  29. reserved. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, modify, 
  30. adapt, translate or otherwise create derivative software programs 
  31. from this shareware version of the Word Translator program nor any 
  32. associated file.

  34. To order a registered version, open the "INFO.WRI" file by double-
  35. clicking on the "Product & Ordering Information" icon in the Word 
  36. Translator PROGRAM GROUP window that is created AFTER Word Translator 
  37. for Windows is installed or double-click on the INFO.WRI file name 
  38. in your File Manager window.

  41. 2. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SHAREWARE & REGISTERED VERSIONS
  42.  
  43. This shareware version of Word Translator for Windows accomplishes 
  44. ALL of the functions the registered version does. However, registered 
  45. versions contain "paired" or "coupled" bilingual dictionary modules 
  46. with SUBSTANTIALLY more "base word" and phrase entries, for some 
  47. languages, over 128,000 combined entries in both "paired" dictionary 
  48. modules versus the +/- 5,000 contained in shareware versions.

  50. Most registered versions also contain a Grammar help file and, for 
  51. Russian, Serbian Cyrillic, Polish, Croatian and Serbian Latin 
  52. dictionary modules, pre-made and installed ".cpc" files (Code Page 
  53. conversion tables) that will, for example, convert Code Page 866 
  54. text to Code Page 1251 or Code Page 1251 text to Code Page 866, Code 
  55. Page 852 text to Code Page 1250 or Code Page 1250 text to Code Page 
  56. 852 or between ANSI and Code Page 437.

  58. The "paired" or "coupled" bilingual dictionaries provided with 
  59. shareware versions of Word Translator for Windows are a random 
  60. compilation of "base words" and phrases (together with their associated 
  61. translations) taken from the largest dictionary module available for 
  62. the specific language. They are only intended to provide a sampling 
  63. of the entries contained in the dictionary modules provided with 
  64. registered versions. They are not intended to be all inclusive. You
  65. can, however, add new "base words," phrases and translations to any 
  66. shareware version. All additions you make to the dictionary are saved 
  67. to separate User Dictionary files that CAN be saved and used with 
  68. registered versions.

  70. Because the quality of the results obtained from Word Translator's 
  71. Spell-Checking, Prediction & Spell-Checking, "standard" (interactive) 
  72. Document Translation and (automatic) Quick Document Translation modes 
  73. are DIRECTLY dependent upon the size of the dictionary employed, the 
  74. larger dictionary modules provided with registered versions of Word 
  75. Translator for Windows are substantially more helpful when used with 
  76. these features.

  78. You may freely copy and distribute this shareware version of Word 
  79. Translator for Windows to friends, relatives, associates and/or others 
  80. who may be interested in evaluating the program. But if you use the 
  81. program for more than thirty days, we ask that you please register

  83. us to improve the quality of Word Translator software as well as 
  84. continue to develop other language dictionaries and software products.

  92. for DOS. You may print-out any individual page (including the order

  116. Word Translator for Windows is the bilingual, bi-directional word/phrase 
  117. dictionary and translation program used all over the world for teaching,

  232. To allow you to both successfully install and use this shareware 
  233. version of Word Translator for Windows, your computer must be an 
  234. IBM-PC/XT/AT, or be 100% IBM compatible (or an "IBM clone") and have:

  237. > A hard disk with approximately 1 MB of free space
  238. > A mouse is highly recommended
  239. > A printer supported by Windows 3.1 or later
  240. > Use of one of the major Windows word processing programs--
  241.   Word for Windows, WordPerfect for Windows or AmiPro (purchased 
  242.   separately) is highly recommended and REQUIRED for Russian, Serbian
  243.   Cyrillic and Polish dictionary modules.

  246. 5. SELF-EXTRACTING ".EXE" FILES INCLUDED WITH RUSSIAN, SERBIAN CYRILLIC, 
  247.    POLISH, CROATIAN AND SERBIAN LATIN VERSIONS
  248.  
  249. Russian, Serbian Cyrillic, Polish, Croatian and Serbian Latin dictionary 
  250. versions install a CODE.EXE or CODE_KBD.EXE file in the "default" WINTRAN 
  251. directory. This CODE.EXE or CODE_KBD.EXE file will extract a file named 
  252. CODE.WRI or CODE_KBD.WRI (in Windows Write format) that contains pictures 
  253. of EITHER the three parts of the Windows Cyrillic or East European Code 
  254. Page (IBM Code Page 1251 or IBM Code Page 1250) that you may print just 
  255. as you would print any other ".WRI" file and use as a reference. The 
  256. CODE_KBD.EXE file installed with Polish, Croatian and Serbian Latin and 
  257. Serbian Cyrillic versions will also contain alternative keyboard layouts 
  258. that you may want to use as a reference to change OR "RE-MAP" the 
  259. "default" keyboard layout.  
  260.  
  261. Russian versions also contain PHONETIC.EXE, RUS_FED.EXE and AATSEEL.EXE 
  262. files that are installed in the "default" WINTRAN directory. The extracted 
  263. PHONETIC.EXE, RUS_FED.EXE and AATSEEL.EXE files ALL create RUSENG.KBD and 
  264. ENGRUS.KBD files which, in turn, (when copied to or extracted within 
  265. your WINTRAN directory to REPLACE (overwrite) existing files of the 
  266. SAME NAME) will change your Russian Keyboard Layout to either the 
  267. PHONETIC/HOMOPHONIC, RUSSIAN FEDERATION or AATSEEL (American Association 
  268. of Teachers of Slavic and East European Languages) Keyboard Layout.

  271. 6. EXTRACTING FILES FROM AN ".EXE" FILE
  272.  
  273. Go to File Manager and find the "default" WINTRAN directory. Locate
  274. the ??????.EXE file you wish to extract and double-click DIRECTLY 
  275. on the ??????.EXE file name in your Windows File Manager window -- OR -- 
  276. From the C:\> prompt, type CD space and the name of the directory 
  277. containing the ??????.EXE file (WINTRAN) and press the <enter> key. 
  278. At the C:\WINTRAN> prompt, type the name of the ??????.EXE file (e.g. 
  279. CODE.EXE) and press the <enter> key. The ??????.EXE file will self-extract 
  280. onto your hard disk in the WINTRAN directory containing the ???.EXE 
  281. file. With the PHONETIC.EXE, RUS_FED.EXE and AATSEEL.EXE files, you
  282. will be prompted to type y (for yes) or n (for no) to OVERWRITE
  283. existing files of the SAME name. To change to a different keyboard, 
  284. type y (for yes).

  336. 8. INSTALLING WORD TRANSLATOR FROM INSIDE WINDOWS

  338. A. Insert the Word Translator for Windows Shareware disk into your 
  339.    A (or B) drive and open Windows.
  340. B. Choose RUN from the Windows Program Manager FILE menu. A COMMAND
  341.    LINE window will appear.
  342. C. For the COMMAND LINE type: a:\setup (or b:\setup) and press
  343.    the <enter> key.
  344. D. Carefully follow the on-screen installation instructions.
  345. E. Installing Word Translator for Windows will create a new 
  346.    Word Translator program group window containing a Word
  347.    Translator icon, Word Translator Manual icon, Product & Ordering
  348.    Information icon, ReadMe icon and--with Russian, Polish, Croatian
  349.    Serbian Cyrillic and Serbian Latin dictionary modules--a Text
